Publix 101

Remember if you have a question it is always a good idea to ask customer service.
Local policies as of 9/7 (subject to change). Each Publix store coupon policy may vary based on local manager’s discretion.

HOW TO GET THE BEST DEALS AT PUBLIX:

1. BEST DEALS ARE B1G1s or sale items: You do not have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items to get the sale price.
Items ring up 1/2 and 1/2 (Fairhope, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach).
Example–Chips are $2.00 on sale B1G1. So first bag will ring up $1, and second bag will ring up $1. I could just buy 1 bag and they still would be $1.
Publix stores in Florida are different. B1G1s ring up full price and $0–so you must buy 2 items.

2. COMPETITOR COUPONS: Publix in Fairhope, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach accept competitor coupons(Target, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, local grocery stores including Bruno’s, Winn Dixie).
Fairhope will also accept Dollar General & Family Dollar coupons.  However, they do NOT accept department store, Food Lion, GNC, etc…If we do not have the grocery/drugstore in our area they will not accept those coupons.

3. STACKING: You can use ONE Publix/competitor coupon and ONE manufacturer coupon per ONE item. So, a max of TWO coupons(one manufacturer and one store coupon) per item. This is called stacking.

4. NO DOUBLING COUPONS: Orange Beach, Gulf Shores & Fairhope Publix locations do NOT double manufacturer coupons. Some Publix stores do double coupons that are .50¢ or less.

5. DRUGSTORE COMPETITOR COUPONS: Fairhope, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach locations will accept drugstore coupons as competitors(CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid).  These coupons must be actual cents or dollars off of a product. No price matching “coupon”. You can read more here.
Now this may be helpful if you happen to receive a $5/30 or even a $10/50 at CVS. These CVS coupons are found on the bottom of your receipt, CVS emails, or price scanners where you can scan your CVS card for additional coupons. THEY DO NOT TAKE CVS ECBs. ONLY $5 off purchase amount coupons. Rite Aid usually has a $5/$25 available on redplum.com, under the zip 95677, extend 50 miles.

Walgreen’s Rebate Rewards, which are manufacturer coupons printed at the register are also accepted. You can use these to pay! ONE per transaction Fairhope, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach. (FL district)

Stores will not accept Walgreen’s copied flyer coupons.  They will accept Walgreen’s monthly booklet coupons but they will need to be the original coupons and not copies.

They will accept Rite Aid Video Value coupons for products.

6. USING $/$ OFF COUPONS: (Spend $30, Get $5 off). Only allowed to use ONE $/$$ at all of our local Publix stores as long as your order total qualifies before other coupons.  Hand this coupon to the cashier first and then your other coupons.

7. FINDING PUBLIX COUPONS: Publix coupon bookletss are usually located in the front of the store, in displays or at the customer service counter. These include Advantage Buy flyers(Yellow and Green), Grape magazine, Family Style, etc…Register online at publix.com for their many Clubs & Programs(more coupons in the booklets you receive at home).

8. RAINCHECKS: If Publix is out of an item ask for a rain check at the customer service counter. Expires in 30 days.

9. QUANTITY LIMITS: 4 B1G1 deals or 8 total items.  This is to prevent shelf clearing.

10. MOBILE COUPONS: Do NOT accept cellphone coupons.

11. NO MILITARY COUPONS

I have a quick question about military coupons. Do you know or have you used military coupons at the Fairhope store. There are sites that list the military matchups but I do not know if all publix will accept them.

Thanks

Heather

The Fairhope store does not accept military coupons. However, some locations in FL may since they have a base close by.

Do you know the coupon policy for the Publix stores in Pensacola?

Do you shop Food World? They have double coupons to $.50. I wanted to know any experiences there since I’m new to the area. Thansk,
Dee Dee

No, I do better shopping Publix where they accept competitor coupons.

When you say you can only have 8 total items for B1G1 deals, is that for one item in particular or is that the total # of deals you can have on a receipt for all B1G1 deals?

7 Shannon April 8, 2010 at 11:18 am

8 items for each b1g1 item–so 8 yogurts, 8 boxes of cereal, etc…

I tried using my Dollar General q’s at the Publix in Fairhope and a manager said that they didn’t take them and said that they only took Family Dollar. I’m so confused. I’m sure that I’ve used them there before. Has their policy changed?

I have a question about the B1G1 at Publix. Can you use two manufacter coupons? 1 for each?

10 Shannon May 17, 2010 at 3:12 pm

yes, if you are buying 2 items

11 Kim June 10, 2010 at 4:28 pm

What about Winn Dixie? Do you ever shop there? They always have B1G1. Is it worth the drive across the bay to shop at Publix?

12 Shannon June 10, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Publix takes competitor coupons…Drugstores, grocery stores and Target. If I need just an item or two I go to WD.

13 Maria June 15, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Just wanted to say that I have actually stacked 3 coupons at a time at the F’hope Publix. I have used a Publix, Competitor store AND Manufacturer coupon on 1 item. I have done this more than once and it has never been questioned.

14 Shannon June 15, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Yep, and that’s against the rules too. Next time why don’t you stop by the customer service counter and ask for the manager Debbie. It should not matter if the cashier accepted it…It’s against the rules.

Is the foley store policy the same as orange beach?

16 Jessica July 8, 2010 at 2:05 pm

Have you heard anything about coupon policy changes in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach? They were accepting $/$$ publix q’s plus a drugstore $/$$ like Riteaid, but I’ve heard they are not doing this anymore.

17 Shannon July 8, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I have heard it. One per person per day.

18 Jennifer Nickles July 22, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Can I stack a dollar general q and mq, at Publix?

19 Shannon July 23, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Depends on whether your store accepts Dollar General coupons. Ask customer service. If then do, then yes you could stack.

20 Kristina July 24, 2010 at 7:50 am

Just wanted to let everyone know that Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have changed their $/$$ off policy. They will now only accept on coupon, no longer will they do a competitor and a Publix $/$$ off. I was in there yesterday and was told by management that this is the cooperate policy. Although I was in the Gulf Shores one earlier this week and they took both, was told that it is now policy for only one to be used.

21 Kristina July 24, 2010 at 7:52 am

Sorry meant corporate policy.

22 Carla September 1, 2010 at 8:22 pm

I was in the G.S. store today and was also told they will only take a Publix or Competitor coupon for $/$$. New policy.
